"Are you looking to experience a Sufi Meditation (Zikr) gathering in London?"
We are looking to expand our Sufi circle and invite You and as many people as possible looking to taste some aspect of 'spirituality' in Central London.
We are fortunate to be have a venue for our Sufi Naqshbandi Zikr (Meditation) and is held every Thursday evening at St.Peter's Church 59 Elgin Avenue from 8.40pm-9.30pm. Closest tube (15 min walk towards Harrow Rd) is Maida Vale and the church hall is on the junction of Elgin Avenue and Chippenham Road.
Everyone is welcome from all faiths/non-faith and of all ages. Whether you are just curious or on full/part time spiritual journey, please come along whenever it suits you on any Thursday evening. The evening is informal and friendly with some light food and refreshment on most occasions.
The structure of the evening begins with formal prayers, approx 20 minutes, which most people can sit and watch and then the Sufi Zikr begins. The Sufi Zikr lasts approximately 40-45 minutes. The meditation involves chanting and reciting and visitors are invited to join in at any point. Sometimes we also have percussion instruments to support the meditation rhythm.
This Sufi Zikr association has been authourised by Sheikh Nazim Al-Haqqani, head of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain Sufi Order. Sheikh Nazim lives in Lefke in Northern Cyprus.
Hope to see you one Thursday evening!
