Dhul Hijjah - First 10 Days - 1st Dhul Hijja 29 November 2008

DHUL HIJJA: A SACRED MONTH

Imam Ghazali (KS) said in Ihya' `Ulum al-Din: "Fasting is definitely desirable in certain meritorious days, some of them being found in every year, others in every month, and others in every week. Those that are found in every year after the days of Ramadan are:

  • the Day of `Arafa [= 9th of Dhul Hijja]
  • the Day of `Ashura' [= 10th of Muharram]
  • the first Ten Days of Dhu al-Hijja
  • the first ten days of Muharram

And all the sacred months are preferred for fasting... and they are:

Dhu al-Qi`da, Dhu al-Hijja, Muharram, and Rajab."

FIRST TEN DAYS AND NIGHTS OF DHUL HIJJA

`Abd Allah ibn Mas`ud (RA) said: The Prophet (SWS) said: "There are no days in the year in which deeds are more meritorious than in the Ten Days [i.e. the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijja]."

Someone asked: "Not even Jihad in the path of Allah?" He replied: "Not even Jihad in the path of Allah." Haythami said: "Tabarani narrated it in al-Mu`jam al-kabir and the narrators in its chain of transmission are all those of sound (Sahih) narrations.

The nights are included in the mention of the days. Allah swore an oath by them when He said: "By the Dawn! By Ten Nights!" (89:1-2) and the authors of Tafsir al-Jalalayn said: "They are the first ten nights of Dhul Hijja."

`EID AL-ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE)

The `Eid prayer is a Sunna Mu'akkada or confirmed Sunna and is recommended to be prayed in congregation. It is wajib (obligatory) in the Hanafi madhhab and therefore required of every person who is required to perform Jum`a, i.e. healthy male residents of the region in which it is performed.

It is highly recommended and Sunna on Eid to listen to both of the Khutbahs given by the Imam on the day of Eid because your Eid prayer will not be completed without you listening to them.

It is a Sunna Mu'akkada and, in the Hanafi Madhhab, a wajib, for every adult Muslim man and woman to sacrifice at least one shat -- a sheep or a goat -- for `Eid al-Adha. This may be done any time after the prayer on the first day of `Eid until sunset on the last of the two days following the first day. One may have someone else perform the sacrifice on his behalf, whether in his presence or in absence.

It is recommended not to eat anything on the day of `Eid al-Adha until one perform the Prayer.

It is recommended to perform Ghusl (major ablution) before the prayer, any time after Fajr even if one does not attend the prayer.

It is recommended for men to dress their best and wear perfume. It is Sunna to come to the mosque early and on foot, and to return home by a different route. It is preferable for a `Eid Congregation to pray outdoors.

Sufi Meditation (Zikr) - Thursday - 27 November 2008

Jazakhallah to everyone that attended this evening. Without you all the Zikr would not be the same so may Allah Almighty bless and reward you here and hereafter.

Alhamdulillah, we had sheikh Abdul Hakim visit us from South London and lead the Zikr this evening and we were treated to a Holy resonating Zikr. It was pleasurable to start with Salawat so Jazakhallah for that old time addition.

We welcomed brother Suhail, his first time in a Zikr association, who drove from Hertfordshire and look forward to seeing him again. Thank you to also sister Gulnaz who attended before and hope you found the Zikr beneficial. Jazakhallah to everyone that manage to attend regularly.

Jazakhallah to uncle Amjudgul for his lovely rice, chicken and bean curry and the delicious chocolate chip brownies were made by sister Sarah Chowdury (amended). Mashallah the group is always spoiled with both brother Rahil's and Yamin's generosity with either outstanding cooking from Rahil and Auntie Farida or Yamin's 'baker' treats of deserts, so jazakhallah to you both and may Allah Almighty reward you all here and herafter.

Inshallah, sheikh Nadeem will be back next week and we prayed for his father's health and full recovery. Inshallah sheikh Mikhail may even come so we can hear a rhythmical 'duff' inspired Zikr with maybe a little 'Hadra' thrown in! Are you up for that?

Inshallah, keep well, safe and see you all next week.

Prayers for All - Prayers for Hard Times

You may find this message a timely reminder for us all.
=====================================
Prayer for All

Allah Almighty always has three replies to our Dua/Prayers

1) 'Yes'
2) 'Yes, but not now'
3) 'I have a better plan for you'

There's never a 'NO'....just have faith and keep praying.
This is an awesome prayer .

Believe it and you shall be blessed even more.

The problem with many of us is that we don't believe that God will open a window and pour out blessings that we won't have room to receive them. I dare anyone to try God. He is true to His word. God does not lie and His promises are sure. Three things will happen to you this coming week, Insha'Allah:

(1) You will find favour with someone you don't expect;
(2) You will be too relevant to be ignored;
(3) You will encounter God and you will never remain the same again.

Prayer for you today:

The eyes beholding this message shall not behold evil, the hands that send this message to others shall not labor in vain, the mouth saying 'Ameen' to this prayer shall know laughter. Remain in God's love as you send this prayer to everybody on your list. Have a lovely journey of life! Trust in Allah with all your heart and He will never fail you because He is the Greatest, Most Generous, Most Merciful.

If you truly need a blessing, continue reading this email:

Allah Huma Salle Ala Muhammdin Wa-Ale Alihi Wa Sahibihi Wa Sal-lam (SWS)

Ya Allah, most Gracious and Loving God, I pray to You that You abundantly bless my family and me. I know that you recognize, that a family is more than just a mother, father, sister, brother, husband and wife, but all who believe and trust in you. Oh Allah, I send up a prayer request for Your blessings not only on the person who sent this message to me, but for all those whom I have forwarded this message on to and myself. I am also aware that the power of joint prayers by those who believe and trust in You is more powerful than anything. I thank you always for Your blessings.

Almighty Allah, deliver the person reading this right now from sickness both from spiritual and physical being, oppression, from wickedness and any evil plotted against them, anxiety, debt and debt's burdens. Release Your Godly wisdom that we may be good stewards over all that You have given us Ya Allah, for I know how wonderful and Almighty You are.

Ya Rabbul Alameen, I am also fully conscious of the fact that if we just obey You and walk in Your way, that You have shown to us, you will pour out your endless blessings on us. I thank you now Allah for the recent blessings I have received and for the blessings yet to come because I know you have not closed your favours to me. In your name I pray,

Innaka Alaa Kulle Shay-in Kadeer. Ameen .

Take 60 Seconds and send this on quickly and within hours, you will have caused a multitude of people to pray to God for each other. Then sit back and watch the power of Allah work in your life for doing the thing that you know He loves.

May Allah bless the person and whoever forwards this message. AMEEN
