Prayers for Ashura - 22 Nov 2012

6
The following are optional prayers for Ashura for people wishing to develop their awareness and spirituality in the Sufi path.

Nafl Salat for the Eve of Ashurah

On the eve of Ashurah offer 4 rakats Nafl Salat : In every rakat after Surah al-Fateha recite "Ayatul Kursi" once and Surah Ikhlas 3 times. After completing this Prayer (Namaz/Salat) recite Surah Ikhlas 100 times. Inshallah Allah Almighty will purify such a person from all their sins and grant them endless bounties and blessings in paradise.

Dua-e-Ashurah - An Insurance for a year’s Life

Hazrat Imam Zainul Abidain (Radi Allah Anhu) reports that who ever recites this dua (Dua-e- Ashurah above) on the tenth of Muharram, any time after sunrise and before sunset, or listens to its recitation from someone else, Allah Ta’ala will certainly make it an insurance for a years’ life for him, by keeping death away from him unless the person's time is finally written for the year according to Divine Decree and His Mercy.

10th Muharram - Fasting & Practices - 22 Nov 2012

In this month the day of ‘Ashura—which falls on the 10th of Muharram, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) recommended that we fast on this day, by his Sunnah. He also indicated how we should observe the fast of Ashura.

And Allah Almighty created the Pen (al-Qalam) on that day and the Heavens and Earth on that day . That was a Friday – not a Saturday or Sunday.
Hakam ibn Al-Arat (Radiyallahu 'anh) relates: I went to Ibn Abbas (Radiyallahu 'anh)… I said to him: Tell me about fasting on Ashura. He said, "When you seen the new moon of Muharram count the (days) and (begin to) observe fast on the 9th." I said to him: "Is it how the Holy Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) observed the fast?" He said, "Yes." [Sahih Muslim]
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiyallahu 'anh) relates that when the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) said: "If I survive till next year, I will definitely observe fast on the 9th of Muharram (as well)." [Sahih  Muslim]
(Note: What the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) meant was that he would also fast on the 9th as well as the 10th to which he was accustomed. We also should try fasting on the 9th and the 10th of Muharram. According to varying calendars, the 10th Muharram is Thursday 22 / Friday 23 November 2012)
Fasting is recommended on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. If it is not possible to fast on both days, then every effort should be made to fast on the 10th day of Muharram, as there is great reward for this fast. (Muslim).

It is also acceptable to fast on the 10th and 11th of Muharram if the 9th and 10th Muharram is not possible according to Sheikh Nazim's advice.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radiyallahu 'anh) reports that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) arrived in Madinah and found the Jews observing fast on the day of Ashura… They said: "It is the day of great (significance) when Allah delivered Hazrat Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) and his people and drowned Pharoah and his people, and Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) observed fast out of gratitude. And we also observe it."

The Holy Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) responded: "We have more right, and we have closer connection with Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) than you have"; so Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) observed fast (on the day of Ashura) and gave us orders to observe it. [Sahih Bukhari and Muslim]

Ashura is a day of great historical significance. On this day: Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) accepted the repentance of Sayyidina Adam ('Alaihis-Salaam) after his exile from Paradise; Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) saved Sayyidina Nuh ('Alaihis-Salaam) and his companions in the ark by landing on Mount Judi; Allah extinguished the fire in which Sayyidina Ibrahim ('Alaihis-Salaam) was thrown by Nimrod; And Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) spoke directly to Sayyidina Musa ('Alaihis-Salaam) and gave him the Commandments.

On this same 10th of Muharram, Sayyidina Ayyub ('Alaihis-Salaam) was restored to health (from leprosy); Sayyidina Yusuf ('Alaihis-Salaam) was reunited with his father Ya’qub ('Alaihis-Salaam); Sayyidina Yunus ('Alaihis-Salaam) was taken out from the belly of the fish; and the sea was divided as the nation of israel was delivered from captivity and Pharoah’s army was destroyed. Ashura is also the day when Sayyidina Dawud ('Alaihis-Salaam) was forgiven; the Kingdom of Sayyidina Sulaiman ('Alaihis-Salaam) was restored; Sayyidina Isa ('Alaihis-Salaam) was raised to Jannah; the Holy Prophet’s (Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam) sins were forgiven; and Sayyidina al-Husayn (Radiyallahu 'anh) (the Holy Prophet’s, Sallallahu ‘alayhi wa Sallam, grandson) achieved the honor of Martyrdom.

Worship Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) as much as you can on ‘Ashura. Whoever fasts on this day is like one who fasts all his life. Whoever clothes a naked person Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will release him from a painful punishment. He who visits a sick person, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will grant him a reward that will not be decreased. Whoever places his hand on an orphan’s head, or feeds a hungry person or gives water to a thirsty man, Allah will feed him a feast from Paradise and will quench his thirst with Salsabil (a wine that does not intoxicate).

And who ever takes a Ghusl on this day will enjoy excellent health and freedom from sickness and indolence. Whoever provides generously for his family on this day, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) will be generous to him throughout this year. And whoever applies Kuhl to his eyes will never suffer from eye-sore again, InSha’Allah al-Aziz.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masood (Radi Allah Anhu), a Companion of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sal Allahu Alaihi wa Sallam) reports the following saying of the Messenger of Allah Ta’ala, "Whosoever prepares ample food and drink for his family on this sacred day and delights in feeding them generously, Allah Ta’ala will increase His provisions for that year and place much blessings and good therein."

And on the day of Ashura, the Seal of messengers, on that day, Allah Almighty made Sayyidina Muhammad (SWS) to marry Sayyidata Khadijah (RA) and He also made him to migrate to Madinah on that day.

The Ashura Desert - Celebrated widely in Turkey and neighbouring countries

The day of Ashura is one of the traditional and celebrated days in Turkey. Families traditionally make the desert based upon Prophet Noah's (AS) pudding they made whilst travelling in the Ark.

Ashura's ingredients can include water, wheat, chickpeas, rice, raisins, dried apricots, dried figs, apple, salt, sugar and honey. Grated orange and lemon peel, walnuts, hazelnuts, cinnamon and pomegranate seeds are also included as garnish. It is distributed to neighbours, and the dish is eaten with pleasure.

If you can't make it, as we are not all cooks or good at cooking - including me! -  you can buy these from Green Lanes N15, Yashar Halim or any other Turkish or Arabic food store.

May Allah Almighty Bless us to perform good deeds and gain their reward on ‘Ashura. Make the new year one of unity, peace, forgiveness, mercy, co-operation and success for all believers in this city and around the world. Ameen.

Help with Daily Life by Reciting Special Duas Each Day

Salaams All

By the kind guidance given by Sheikh Abdulhamid, from Kenya, who was advised of these prayers (duas) to help everyone with their work/income/sustenance in their lives, from Sheikh Nazim Al-Haqqani Ar Rabbani.

I have personally used them and Alhamdulillah, they work by the permission from the Almighty and His Holy Prophet (SWS).

Try it and be consistent, everyday - which is REALLY important, and you will surely benefit, God willing.

==================

1. 7 x Ayatul Kursi - morning & evening

2. 1 x Surah Waqia - daily

3. After each Namaz (without speaking to anyone - sitting & not getting up) read 129x times  "Ya Lateef"

4. After reciting (3) read 7 times;

Bismillah Irahma Nirraheem

"Allahu Latiful Bil ibadihi Yarzuku May'yashaahu Wa Huwal Qawwiyul Aziz"

5. Give Kurbani/Sadaqa 1 or twice a month, (better in poorer countries)

6. Give Daily Sadaqah (Charity) - (even 10 pence a day, Sheikh Nazim has said is ok)

Inshallah Rizq and blessings will come from places you never expected or dreamt of.

English Translation of Du'a Nisf Shaban

O Allah! You shower favours on everyone
And no one can do You any favour.
O The Possessor of Majesty and Honour,
O The Distributor of bounty and rewards,
There is no one worthy of worship except You.
You help the fallen
And provide refuge to the refugees
And give peace to those who are in fear.

O Allah! If in the Mother of All Books that is with You
You have written me down as someone who is
Doubtful of achieving salvation, or deprived,
Or rejected or without enough sustenance,
Then, O Allah, with Your Grace
Remove all of these misfortunes from me
and in the Mother of All Books that is with You,
establish me as someone who is
blessed, with abundant provision and charitable good deeds.
Indeed, what You said in The Book You sent
Through the tongue of Your Blessed Prophet is true
That Allah changes and establishes what He wants
And with Him is the Mother of All Books.

O My Lord! For the sake of Your Divine Manifestation
On this fifteenth night of the blessed month of Sha'ban
In which You issue all Wise and Irrevocable Decrees
Remove from us all calamities and hardships,
those that we know about as well as those that we don't,
while You know everything.
Truly, You are the Most Powerful, Most Generous.

And may Allah the Exalted shower blessings and peace on
Sayyidina Muhammad, and on his family and his companions
And all praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds.

Amen O Allah

15th Shaban- 3rd July 2012 - Laylatul Bara'ah - Nisf Shaban

Salaams All

According to Islamic Calendar, 15th Shaban falls on this evening as advised by Shaykh Nazim Al-Haqqani Al.

This is the night before 15th when everyones provision for the coming year is determined and it is also a night of forgiveness.

The Prophet (SWS) said " Allah looks at His creation in the night of mid-Sha'ban and He forgives all His creation except for a mushrik (idolater) or a mushahin (one bent on hatred)."

From A'isha (RA), She said " The Prophet (SWS) stood up in prayer during part of the night and made prostration so lengthy that I thought his soul had been taken back. When I saw this I got up and went to move his big toe, whereupon he moved, so I drew back. When he raised his head from prostration and finished praying, he said "O A'isha, O fair little one (humayra)! Did you think that the Prophet had broken his agreement with you?" She replied, "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, but I thought that your soul had been taken back because you stayed in prostration so long." He said. "Do you know what night this is?" She said, "Allah and His Prophet know best." He said, "This is the night of mid Sha'ban! Verily Allah the Glorious and Majestic look at His servants on the night of mid-Sha'ban, and He forgives those asking forgiveness, and he bestows mercy on those who ask mercy, and He gives a delay to the people of envy and spite in their state."

Imam Suyuti (KS) says, " as for the night of mid-Sha'ban, it has great merit and it is desirable (mustahabb) to spend part of it in supererogatory worship."

PRAYERS FOR 15 th SHA'BAN

Here are the Nafl (optional) prayers below for believing men and women to gain forgiveness, blessings and Divine Mercy from God Almighty.

On the Holy Night of 15th Shaban, after Maghrib or Isha prayer it is traditional practice to read Surah Yasin three times, and after each time, read a special du'a with the following intentions:

(According to Naqshbandi Daily Practices)

1st Surah Yasin read with the intention of raising one's maqam, or station.

2nd Surah Yasin read with the intention of asking for Rizq, or provisions.

3rd Surah Yasin read with the intention of protection from enemies.

After Isha, one should either read: a) 300 Surah Ikhlas Sharif or b) 1000 Surah Ikhlas Sharif

According to other traditions, 3 x Surah Yasin read as follows:

1st Yasin then 2 rakah Nafil reading the niyyat (intention) for should be for a Long Pious & Righteous Life - Read Dua Nisf-Shaban after each Yasin

2nd Yasin then 2 rakah Nafil reading the niyyat (intention) should be for Protection from Heavenly & Wordly Calamities - Dua Nisf-Shaban as above

3rd Yasin then 2 rakah Nafil Reading the niyyat (intention) should be for not being needy to anyone except Allah - Dua Nisf Shaban as above

It is highly advisable that just as others observe this night, you observe it too. To make an invitation to feed people on that night, to remember Allah (swt) and to remember His Prophet (s), and to fast its day and pray its night, will be rewarded for that night and for whoever observes it.

In order to observe the Night of Bara'ah, one should remain awake in this night as much as one can. If someone has better opportunities, he should spend the whole night in worship and prayer. However, if one cannot do so, he/she can select a considerable portion of the night, preferably of the second half of it for this purpose and should perform the following acts of worship:

The Prayer of Benefits Salat al-Khair

It is good to spend that night praying Salat ul-Khair, which consists of 100 raka'ts, in each raka't reciting Sura al-Fatiha and 10 Surat Ikhlas. To complete the prayer one recites 1000 Sura Ikhlas.

The Night of Bara'ah is a night in which special blessings are directed towards the Muslims. Therefore, this night should be spent in total submission to Allah Almighty, and one should refrain from all those activities which may displease Allah.

Fast of the 15th Sha'ban On the day immediately following the Night of Bara'ah, i.e. the 15th of Sha'ban, it is mustahabb (advisable) to keep fast. Prophet Muhammad (s), is reported to have recommended this fast emphatically. A large number of the predecessors (salaf) of the Ummah have been observing the fast of the 15th of Sha'ban.

Therefore, it is advisable to fast the 15th of Sha'ban as an optional (nafl) fast. One can also keep a fast of qada on this day and it is hoped that he can also benefit from the merits of this fast.

Abu Huraira (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) as saying: Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to me on the night of mid-Sha'ban and said to me: "O Muhammad, raise your head heavenwards!" I asked him: "What night is this?" and he replied: " This is the night when Allah (Glorified is He) opens three hundred of the gates of mercy, forgiving all who do not make anything His partner . The only exceptions are those who practice sorcery or divination, are addicted to wine, or persist in usury and illicit sex; these He does not forgive until they repent."

At a quarter of the night, Gabriel (peace be upon him) came down and said: "0 Muhammad, raise your head!" So I looked up, to behold the gates of Paradise wide open. At the first gate an angel was calling: "Good news for those who bow in worship this night!" At the second gate an angel was calling: "Good news for those who prostrate themselves in worship this night!" At the third gate an angel was calling: "Good news for those who offer supplication this night!" At the fourth gate an angel was calling: "Good news for those who make remembrance this night!" At the fifth gate an angel was calling: "Good news for those who weep this night from fear of Allah!" At the sixth gate an angel was calling: "Good news for those who submit this night!" At the seventh gate an angel was calling: "Will anyone ask, that his request may be granted?" At the eighth gate an angel was calling: "Will anyone seek forgiveness, that he may be forgiven?"

I said: " O Gabriel, how long will these gates remain open?" He replied: "From the beginning of the night until the break of dawn." Then he said: "0 Muhammad, tonight Allah has as many slaves emancipated from the Fire as the number of woolly hairs on the flocks and herds of Kalb."

And I ask forgiveness of You for the favors which I used for increasing my disobedience towards You. And I ask forgiveness of You for the sins which no one knows except You and no one sees except You and nothing encompasses except Your Mercy and nothing delivers from except Your forgiveness and clemency. There is no god except You alone. You are the Most High, and I was one of the [self] oppressors!

O Allah, I ask forgiveness of You for the injustice I committed against Your servants. Whatever of Your male or female servants whom I have hurt, physically or in their dignity or in their property give them of Your bounty which lacks nothing. And I ask You to honor me with Your mercy which encompasses all things. Do not humble me with Your punishment but give me what I ask of You, for I am in great need of Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful. May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad and upon all his companions. There is no power and no might except in Allah the High, the Exalted.

Blessings and Peace upon Sayyidina Muhammad, his Family, and his Companions.

Month of Rajab - Story of Wali (Awliya) Abbas (KS)

Rajab is the Month of God

Ahead of us begins a very important month in the Islamic calendar, the holy month of Rajab al-Haram. It stands alone out of the four months which God has declared sacred Rajab, Dhul-Qida, Dhul-Hijja, and Muharram. It also opens the series of three holy months culminating in Ramadan: Rajab, Shaban, and Ramadan. During these three months everyone must prepare and keep himself, as much as possible, away from low traits, bad manners and sins.

The Prophet  said, 'Rajab is the month of God, Shaban is my month and Ramadan is the month of my Community.' God gave us twelve months in the year, eleven of which are ours and one of which belongs to God. What rewards God will give his servants in His month, no one knows, not even the Prophet . The work of prophets and angels stops in the month of Rajab.

They are not allowed to know what rewards God is going to give His community. It is in the hands of the Lord, Almighty God. In the following month, Shaban, no one is permitted to know what rewards Prophet  will give his Community except the Prophet  and God. What is accumulated of the rewards in Rajab and Shaban will be written for you and become known to everyone in Ramadan. That is why it is the month of the Community. These three months are therefore very important months in the understanding of the Sufi orders.

In the month of Rajab, the Prophet  went through the Night Journey and Ascension. During this month one must keep oneself away from all kinds of bad manners and behavior. One of the most important days of the year is the first day of the 'month of God.' All seclusions commence at the beginning of the month of Rajab. The most important seclusion that Sufi masters have performed in their lives always fell in that month. It is a holy month. If you do something more (for God) in that month, you are going to be rewarded with a reward known to no one except God. In that month, God's Oceans of Mercy, Love and Rewards are going to be opened for His Community and His servants.

All Saints wait to see what rewards God is going to grant human beings at this time of year. All saints on this planet, from East to West, from North to South, expect to see something happen in this world during these three special months. Everyone of us must therefore behave themselves in these coming three months especially.

Look at the mercy that God sends in the month of Rajab. If you did something wrong, do not turn away, as if to run away from God. Turn to your Lord. He will forgive you. It is very important because no one knows what God is going to give to His servants not even the two angels appointed to write a person's deeds, who ride on the shoulders of every human being. Everything in that month comes through God and no one knows what God will put into his or her scale for the least good manner or act of worship done for Him.

Story of the Saint of Rajab

In the time of the Prophet  there lived a notorious highway robber. He used to frequent the streets after midnight. If he found someone walking alone at night in the street, he caught him, robbed him, sometimes beat him or killed him, and then returned home. No one was able to catch that highwayman. The Prophet  used to curse that highwayman in his time, saying, 'That is an evil person. I will never pray for him and I will not bury him in the graveyard of the Muslims.'

After many years, the highwayman passed away. Because the Prophet  used to curse him, the children dragged his body through the streets of Madinah and threw him into a dry well. As soon as they had thrown him into the well, God spoke to the Prophet  and said, 'O my beloved Prophet, today one of my saints has passed away. You must go and wash him, clean him, cover him, pray for him and bury him.' The Prophet  was astonished because all his life he had cursed that person. Now that he had passed away, God told him that he was a saint. How could he be a saint?

But no one can interfere with God's knowledge, not even the Prophet . If God wants to make a thief a saint, no one can ask, 'Why?' We must accept. That is why according to Sufi teachings and the teachings of the Naqshbandi Order, you have to look at everyone as being better than you. You do not know if God is going to raise that person's level higher than your level who knows? No one can know. Therefore no one can interfere. Do not look down at people as if you were superior to them. You do not know whether that person, in God's eyes, is a saint or not.

Who knows? Always regard people as being at a higher level than yourself. Show them respect and be humble towards them. Do not show ego and pride. God's Mercy is so great that you are forbidden to look at what people are doing on the outside. You must not call them crazy or criticize their bad manners. Leave them alone. They have a Lord to judge them. Look at yourself. Make yourself behave well. Do not interfere with anyone else. It is not your job to correct anyone else. Your job is only to correct yourself. Correct yourself and leave everyone else to their Lord. This is the true understanding and teaching of Sufism leave everyone to their Lord and change yourself.

If you teach your ego not to interfere with anyone, then you are going to find yourself living in happiness, because when you look at people, you will only see servants of the same Lord as yours and, therefore, God will sometimes forgive them what they are doing. Do not say, 'You are committing wrong by drinking, womanizing, doing this and doing that. Leave everyone to his or her Lord. Teach people in general. Do not focus in on someone and be specific.

God told the Prophet (s), 'O Messenger of God, take him and purify him.' The Prophet  immediately called Abu Bakr as-Siddiq  and said, 'O Abu Bakr, we have to go and bury the highwayman who died.' Abu Bakr as-Siddiq  said, 'O Messenger of God, you said that you did not want to bury that person in a Muslim grave for he is not Muslim!' The Prophet  said, 'No! Let alone ordinary Muslims. God informed me today that that person was a saint!'

What did that thief do in his life to become a saint? He killed, robbed and stole all his life. The Prophet   went into the well, took that person's body out with his own hands and with his Companions, carried him to his house. He cleaned him, washed him, wrapped him in a shroud, prayed for him, then took him from the his mosque to the Baqi cemetery, a distance of fifteen minutes' walk. It took the Prophet  more than two hours to move from the mosque to the cemetery.

All the Companions were astonished at the way the Prophet  was walking. He had performed ablution for the dead with his own hands on that man, washed him and prayed for him. Now that he was taking him to his grave, he was walking on tiptoes. 'O Messenger of God,' they asked him, 'Why are you walking on tiptoes?' He said, 'God ordered all saints from East to West, all angels from the seven heavens and all spiritual beings to be present and follow the bier of that saint. There are so many of them filling the way that I cannot find a place to put my feet. Never in my life was I so surprised as I am today.'

After they buried him, the Prophet  did not speak with anyone but quickly returned to his house trembling and shivering. He sat with Abu Bakr as-Siddiq  asking himself what that saint had done, a robber all his life, to merit such a high degree of respect from God. Abu Bakr as-Siddiq  said, 'O Messenger of God, I feel ashamed to ask about what I saw today. It was so astonishing.' The Prophet  answered, 'Abu Bakr as-Siddiq  , I am even more surprised than you. I am waiting for Gabriel (s) to come and inform me of what has happened.'

When Gabriel (s) came, the Prophet  said, 'O Gabriel what is the matter?' He answered, 'O Prophet, do not ask me. I am also astonished! Yet do not be astonished. God can do what no one can do. He is telling you to ask that man's daughter what he did in his life.'

The Prophet  immediately went in person with Abu Bakr as-Siddiq  to the house of that burglar. Nowadays, ministers and secretaries of state, no, even a manager in a company treats everyone else as if they were beggars at his door. They show neither respect nor humility. The Prophet , disregarding his power and status as a perfect human being, as the beloved of God, humbly went to that saint's house to ask his child what her father had done in his life.

He said, 'O my daughter, please tell me how your father lived.' She told him, 'O Messenger of God, I am very ashamed before you. What am I going to tell you? He was a killer, a thief. I never saw him do anything good. He robbed and stole day and night, except for one month during the year. When that month came, he would say, 'This is the month of God,' because he heard you say, 'Rajab is the month of God, Shaban is the month of the Prophet  and Ramadan is the month of the Community.' So he said, 'I do not care for the month of the Prophet  or the month of the Community, only for the month of my Lord. Therefore, I am going to sit in my room and close it and perform seclusion during this month.'

The Prophet  asked her, 'What kind of seclusion did he do?' She told him, 'O Messenger of God, one day he was out in the street looking for someone to rob. He found an old man of seventy or eighty years of age. He beat him until he was unconscious and robbed him. He found a small piece of folded paper in his pocket. He opened it and found a prayer inside. He liked that prayer very much. Every year when the month of Rajab--the month of God--came around, my father used to sit and read that prayer day and night, weeping and reading, except when he wanted to eat or perform ablution. After the month was over he would get up and say, 'The month of God is finished. Now for my pleasure,' and go back to robbing and stealing for eleven more months.'

The supplication used by that man is a very important supplication which all are advised to recite three times a day during the month of Rajab. Sultan Mawlana Sheikh Nazim said that this supplication purifies you from all your sins and leaves you as pure as a newborn child. It is a very famous supplication in Sufi orders.

When the Prophet  asked the daughter to bring him the paper, he kissed it and rubbed this paper over his body. I advise all of you not to forget about that supplication, but practice it during this coming month. Keep reciting it and God will give you as He Wills, according to your intention.

God told the Prophet , 'O my beloved Prophet, that person came and repented to me in the most precious month of the year. For that reason, because he sacrificed at least one month of the year for Me, I have forgiven him all his mistakes and I have changed all his sins into laudable deeds. As he had many sins, now he has many rewards. He became a great saint.'

Because of one prayer, God made him a saint, a person who never worshipped the Lord as he should have, by coming to such associations as this to listen. You have a merciful God, a loving God. What do you think He will give you in return? Do you think that He is going to leave you in difficulties? For every step that you took to come to such a meeting, God will take away from you one sin and give you ten rewards. Whoever came two hours' driving, let them compute how many steps they made. Do not miss such associations because you cannot get such rewards when you worship. Your five prayers are an obligation upon you but such associations are not an obligation.

They are voluntary. Therefore if you attend, you are going to be rewarded with a very weighty reward. That is why these associations are very important. They will show you the shortest way to reach the Divine Presence. They will show you the shortest way to reach your reality. With very little practice, by reciting something which saints recited, you can progress very quickly. Prepare yourself in the month of Rajab not to miss any prayers. If you happen to miss prayers during the day, try to perform them at night when you come home before sleeping.

Try to recite 'Allah' 1500 times a day in your heart. If you prefer to recite it by tongue, do so. Also recite 100 times a day, 'Allahumma salli ala Muhammadin wa ala ali Muhammadin wa sallim' (O God, send blessings and peace upon Muhammad and upon the Family of Muhammad). God willing, this will give you power during this month and will prepare you for the month of Shaban which has other duties which we will describe in time, God willing.

We ask success from Allah Almighty (God) through the Opening Chapter of the Quran, al-Fatihah.

Month of Rajab - 19 May 2012

Month of Rajab 2012

Salaams

The month of Rajab started on Monday 19 May 2012(-/+1 day). According to some calendars it may be a little earlier or later.

Alhamdulillah, many people will be familiar to the many blessings and endless mercy which transcends this holy month but here is the Prophet (sws) & Sahaba (ra) describing the Month of Rajab.

Month of RajabThe Prophet  said "Rajab is the month of Allah, Sha`bān is my month and Ramadān is the month of my Nation."

Our beloved Sheikh and Spiritual Guide, Sultan Sheikh Nazim has said: “What rewards Allah will give his servants in his month (Rajab), no one knows."
Fasting - Endless blessings and Allah Almighty's Rewards in Rajab

Ahadith about Fasting in the Month of Rajab
The Prophet  said, " The fast of the first day of Rajab is repentance for three years and the [fasting] second day is repentance for two years and the [fast of] third day is repentance for a year and then each [remaining] day is [repentance for] a month."
The Prophet , when he entered the month of Rajab would say, "O Allah bless us in our Rajab and Sha`ban and cause us to reach Ramadan!" And on the night of Jum`ah he used to say, "This is the night of beauty and day of brightness."
From Ibn `Umar  that the Prophet  said:

Whoever fasts the first day of Rajab it will be equivalent to the fast of one year; and whoever fasts seven days in it, the seven gates of Hell will be closed for him; and whoever fasts ten days from Rajab, a caller will call out from the sky, “Ask and you will be given!”
Anas  related that the Prophet  said:
Rajab is a tremendous month in which Allah multiplies the good deeds. So whoever fasts a day from Rajab it is as if he fasted a year; and whoever fasts seven days of it the seven gates of Hell are closed to him; and whoever fasts eight days from it the eight gates of Paradise are opened to him; and whoever fasts ten days from it will not ask Allah something except that Allah will grant it. And whoever fasts from it fifteen days a caller will call out from heavens “Verily you have been forgiven whatever is past, so renew your good actions, for indeed your transgressions have been transformed into virtuous deeds.” And whoever does more, Allah gives to him even more. And in Rajab Allah carried Nuh  in the ark and he fasted and ordered all those with him to do so. And the Ark sailed with them for six months until the first ten days of Muharram...
The benefits of fasting are clear above and Sultan Sheikh Nazim recommends anyone that can fast in the month of Rajab to do so what is easy for them.

Following this post will detail Sufi Naqshbandi practices and are entirely optional. The story of the Saint of Rajab will also be posted Inshallah.
